Celebrating Those Who Serve Behind the Scenes: Veterans’ Families Day 2025
Veterans and defence families are the backbone of our defence community — providing unwavering support, stability, and care to those who serve our nation.
To the spouses, partners, children, and families who stand beside our soldiers, sailors, and aviators — we see you, we thank you, and we recognise the vital role you play. At APOD, many of our own team members come from defence families, so we understand firsthand the unique challenges and sacrifices that come with military life.
This year, APOD is proud to support the South Australian Government as they lead the nation with the second annual Veterans’ Families Day, taking place on Friday, 15 May. This important initiative recognises the contribution and resilience of defence and veteran families, with a weekend of exclusive offers and experiences designed especially for them.
Veterans’ Families Day was officially announced by Joe Szakacs, who highlighted the importance of acknowledging the families who support serving members every day.
As part of the 2025 celebrations, APOD has partnered with a range of South Australian businesses to deliver a weekend full of fun, connection, and quality time for families across the state.
From Saturday 17 May to Sunday 18 May, APOD members can access a variety of exclusive offers via the APOD App, including:
• 20% off food and free kids meals at selected venues including Holdfast Hotel, The Ovingham Hotel, Avoca Hotel, and The OG Hotel
• 30% off experiences at P1 Entertainment, Adelaide’s ultimate destination for go-karting, golf, and arcade fun
• Free and discounted activities across popular venues including Holey Moley, Hijinx Hotel, Strike Bowling, Archie Brothers, and Kingpin Norwood
Families can redeem up to two free activities per booking, with a maximum of four activities per family across separate transactions.
