Volunteering with APOD is about being part of a community that shows up for those who serve. From Defence and veteran families to first responders, our volunteers help deliver programs, events, and everyday support that reduce cost-of-living pressures and strengthen wellbeing.
Whether you’re lending a hand at an event or contributing your professional skills, every role plays a part in creating connection, support, and real impact.

There are many ways to volunteer with APOD, depending on your interests, availability, and experience.

Assist with workshops, expos, and community sessions by helping create welcoming, engaging experiences for attendees.

Help with setup, pack down, and behind-the-scenes coordination to ensure events run smoothly from start to finish.

Welcome attendees, facilitate conversations, and help build a strong sense of connection across our community.

Contribute your expertise in areas like marketing, partnerships, administration, or program delivery to support APOD initiatives.

We welcome volunteers from all walks of life. While lived experience within the Defence or first responder community is valued, it’s not essential — what matters most is a shared commitment to supporting those who serve.
Serving and former Defence personnel are encouraged to get involved and support their wider community.
Partners and family members play a vital role and are warmly welcomed into our volunteer network.
Police, fire, ambulance and emergency services communities are invited to contribute and connect.
Anyone aligned with our mission and values can volunteer and make a meaningful contribution.
